The Saturday Art Workshop (SAW) is a CCSU program that offers opportunities to participating K-12 students from the Greater Hartford region, to take art classes at the University. First and foremost, SAW serves as a pre-Student Teaching Practicum, through which the classes are instructed and designed by CCSU Teacher Candidate students accepted to the Art Education Professional Program. Our students work with a variety of media in lessons that are fun and engaging. Activities include lessons in drawing, painting, and mixed media. Past lessons have included creative self-portraits, clay animal sculptures, imaginative landscapes, and more! Each year we have an impressive end-of-session Art Show in the CCSU Art Gallery, for family and friends to see the talent of our SAW students.
In Spring 2026, the SAW Session will run for 7 weeks on Saturday Mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Please check back in December for registration information.
If you have any questions, please contact the SAW staff at SAW@ccsu.edu or the Art Department front desk at 860.832.2620.
We are looking forward to another exciting SAW experience!
