The Saturday Art Workshop (SAW) is a CCSU program that offers opportunities to participating children from the Greater Hartford region to take Art classes at the university. First and foremost, however, SAW serves as a pre-student teaching practicum through which Art Education students begin working with students and establishing their teaching skills. The classes are instructed and designed by CCSU students accepted to the Art Education Professional Program. This semester SAW will run for 12 instead of 7 weeks on Saturday mornings from 9:30AM – 11AM. Our students work with a variety of media in lessons that are fun and engaging. Students enrolled in the SAW program range in age from 5 years old (Kindergarten) through 18 years old (High School).
Classes will begin on January 31, 2026 at 9:30 and end on May 9, 2026. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please NOTE: There will be no class on February, 14, March 21 and April 4 as the university is closed for Presidents’ Holiday Recess, Spring Break and a Weekend of Reflection. The art exhibition reception for the Saturday Art Workshop is scheduled from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm on May 9, 2026, immediately following the final class. Parents and students may collect their works no earlier than 11:20 a.m. on May 9, and all remaining works must be picked up in the Conference Room in Maloney Hall by May 15.
Please go to our webpage listed below to register your student. The fee, this spring is $75 per student ($65 per student if more than one household family member is registered). We must maintain a 15:1 student/teacher ratio; thus, we will cap course enrollment for each class accordingly. To ensure a spot for your student, early registration is highly recommended. Registration form and payment are due by January 12, 2026. Please note that we assign students by age and we cannot accept requests for students to be placed together.
Please use the attached registration link below. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the SAW staff at SAW@ccsu.edu
We are looking forward to another exciting SAW experience!
