Dr. Abubakar works at the crossroads of Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence, treating these not as separate domains, but as interlocking tools for solving real organizational problems. His research uses machine learning and AI models to tackle real, systemic problems in how organizations manage information, helping industry leaders transform their operations while also pushing the boundaries of academic thinking.
Over more than a decade, his scholarship has produced innovative frameworks explaining how organizations can harness data, AI, and digital technologies to strengthen decision-making, innovation, employee well-being, and overall performance. His research interests span information systems, business analytics, applied artificial intelligence, knowledge management, digital labor and market platforms, and workplace relations. His work has appeared in leading journals indexed by Web of Science, ABS, SCOPUS (Q1-Q2) and ABDC, including the European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of Knowledge Management, Information Systems Management, Journal of Innovation and Knowledge, Online Information Review, Journal of Destination Marketing & Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and Service Industries Journal, among others. He has been named to Stanford University and Elsevier's list of the world's top 2% of scientists for six years consecutively.
