Mairead Doery

Dr. Mairead K. Doery is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Central Connecticut State University, where she directs the Indigenous LANDS Lab. She is an anthropological archaeologist whose work engages with Indigenous history in North America through collaborative and decolonizing practice.

Dr. Doery’s research integrates Indigenous archaeology, ethnohistory, and other Indigenous data sources to challenge standard archaeological paradigms. In her most recent work, she has examined long-term land use practices in the Rocky Mountain West using rock art iconography and oral histories. She is broadly interested in placemaking, memory, and image production practices, and using digital storytelling and community-engaged research methods. With training in museum anthropology and learner-centered teaching, she is also involved in disciplinary-wide projects to promote decolonized and inclusive pedagogy.
