I’m Dr. Erin Ortiz, an Assistant Professor of Public Relations at Central. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Utah, my M.A. from Duquesne University, and my B.A. from SUNY Plattsburgh. My teaching and research focus on public relations, strategic communication, trust, organizational communication, and the ways communication shapes how we understand institutions and one another. At Central, I’ll be teaching public relations courses that explore writing, storytelling, strategy, media relations, ethics, audiences, and emerging technologies. Outside the classroom, I love reading fiction and spending time with my family, my spouse, our three kids, and our dog, so life is usually lively, a little noisy, and never boring.
