Students who are accepted into the Student Development in Higher Education (SDHE) program have many opportunities to defray the cost of their Master’s degree program while developing practical work skills in the field of Student Affairs and Student Services. It is a great opportunity to apply the knowledge you are gaining from the classroom.
Students who accept employment as a Graduate Intern (2-year commitment) work 30-35 hours a week and attend classes part time (6 credit hours: Summer, Fall and Spring, 3 credits: Winter sessions) starting in May of their first year and continuing each semester for two years.
Students who accept employment as a Graduate Assistant work either 10 hours a week or 20 hours a week and must be a full-time student (minimum of 9 credits Fall and Spring Semesters).
The Student Development in Higher Education program has ongoing relationships with several departments on the Central campus. Many of students obtain Graduate Assistantship and Internship positions with Student Activities, Student Center and The Learning Center.

Besides the opportunities on campus, we also have unique partnerships with Eastern Connecticut State University (i.e. Unity Wing, Accessibilities, Student Activities, Residence Life, Advising, Orientation etc.) and Southern Connecticut State University (i.e. CASA, Dean of Students, SAGE Center, Student Activities, etc.) As these positions announcements become available to the Program Coordinator of the SDHE program, they are sent out to new potential students to apply (usually around February).
