IT Self-Help: Installing a HP Designjet Network Printer on a Mac Running Leopard



  1. First, you will need to locate the IP Address of the printer. The IP Address can be found on the "Printer Information" card located on the side of the printer.
  2. On your Mac computer go to the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.
  3. Click on the "Print and Fax" icon.
  4. Click on the "+" button to add the printer.
  5. Click on the "More Printers" icon.
  6. Select "HP IP Printing" from the drop-down list and click on the "Manual" button.
  7. Type the IP Address for the printer (see step 1) in the Manual IP field and click "Connect".
  8. Once the printer is connected, click "Add".
  9. Select the printer and click on the "Options and Supplies" button. For the Name field, type the name of the printer as you want to know it, i.e. "HP LaserJet 2430 in Front Office".

  10. Click on the "OK" button.

Deleting a Network Printer on a Mac

  1. Click on the Apple menu, then select System Preferences.
  2. Click on the "Print and Fax" icon.
  3. Select the printer to delete and click on the "-" button.
