Team Central placed second in the 2024 CFA Institute Research Challenge hosted by CFA Society Hartford. The research challenge is an annual global competition in which university teams conduct equity analysis of an assigned public company; interview the company’s CFO in investment conference calls; and write an in-depth research report. The teams with the best written report move on to the finalist round, which includes a presentation for a panel of industry experts.

Fifteen teams from 12 universities in Connecticut and Rhode Island — including Yale, UConn, and Trinity College — participated in the regional competition this year. Central competed against three other finalists and earned second place, outperforming the teams from Trinity College and Providence College.

The Central team members are Alexander Case, Justin Melendez, Melsida Mardiyan, and Ryan Cunningham. Professor Fan He from Finance Department is the team’s mentor.
