ABSENCES
Regular class attendance is
expected by the University. The following attendance policies are in
effect:
-
Students are responsible for class
attendance, although each instructor should establish his or her
policy and inform the class.
-
A student absent from class for five
consecutive days or less, should explain the absence to the professor
upon his or her return.
-
A student absent for more than five
consecutive days for medical reasons who has not seen the University
Health Service during the absence, should notify the Office of Student
Affairs upon his or her return. Appropriate documentation will be
necessary, and the student’s instructors will be notified.
-
For non-medical absences of more than
five days the Office of Student Affairs should be notified. Where
extenuating circumstances and/or documentation warrant, the
student’s instructors will be notified of the reasons for the
absence. Absences are excused only at the discretion of the
instructor.
-
Absences for official University trips
to conferences, intercollegiate athletic events, musical performances,
and other events should be documented in advance through the Office of
Student Affairs or the appropriate academic department.
-
It is the student’s responsibility to
obtain class notes, make up missed work, etc. Make-up exams are
scheduled at the convenience of the instructor.
ADDING

I have a question about my bill.
Who do I talk to?
This depends on the nature of your question. If you have a
question that pertains to a scholarship, grant, or loan, you should
contact the Financial Aid Office at (860) 832-2200.

BLUE
CHIP CARD / STUDENT ID
The Blue Chip Card Office is
located in Bookstore inside of the Student Center. The Card Office is
responsible for producing ID cards for the students, faculty and staff at
CCSU. This office also manages the Blue Chip debit card system which
enables a card holder to purchase services or merchandise both on- and
off-campus. These services include vending machines, laundry, copiers,
food services on campus, bookstore, laser printing at the Microcomputer
Lab and various vendors off-campus.
Along with the debit card feature, the ID card may also be used for
banking services provided by Achieve Credit Union. As a member, it
allows one to use the card as an ATM card as well as for point-of-sale
transactions. An on-campus Achieve office is located in the Student
Center, 203-639-7916.
All students are required to have a Blue Chip ID card. The Blue Chip card
must be presented in order to use the library or computer lab services.
The ID card is good for the student’s entire time at the University.
DROPPING A
COURSE
Dropping courses will be allowed up
to the end of the chronological midpoint in the course being attempted
with the exception that full-time undergraduate students must maintain a
minimum credit load of 12 credits. Courses dropped before mid-point do not
appear on the student’s transcript. Forms are available in the
Enrollment Center, Willard Lobby.
Undergraduate full-time students for whom
dropping a course would reduce their credit load to fewer than 12 credits
MUST apply for withdrawal from that course. (Follow the same procedure as
for Withdrawal from Courses.)

The Library and
Willard Hall have key-only elevator access. If a key is needed due
to a medical condition please visit the Police
Department.

PARKING
STICKER
Every student is required to
have a current University parking decal, available from the Card Office or
if they are closed then the University
Police Department. You should also pick up a brochure explaining
parking regulations and a map designating student parking lots. If
you park in a faculty/staff lot or park illegally, you will be ticketed
(parking fines may be $25 or more) and possibly towed.
From
November 15 to April 1, students should avoid overnight parking in any of
the open parking lots. Students should use the parking garages,
especially when snow or ice conditions are forecasted. Due to a
potential snow emergency, a parking ban may be instituted and those cars
remaining in parking lots will be subject to fines and towing. To
find out if a parking ban is in effect you can call the snow phone at
(860) 832-3333.
For more
information on parking, please visit the Campus Police web site by
clicking on the link below, or stop by the Police Department which is
located on Paul Manafort Drive next to Copernicus Hall.
PARKING
TICKETS
If you think you were ticketed unjustly, parking
tickets may be appealed to the University Parking Appeal Committee (appeal
forms are available in the University Police Department). All
fines must be paid in full prior to appeal, and appeals must be filed within
ten days of the violation in order to be considered. Appellants
will be notified of the hearing date in writing and may, if they desire, appear
in person before the committee. Refunds for successful appeals will
be processes within six to eight weeks of the date the appeal is
granted. For more information please call the CCSU Police Department
at (860) 832-2375.
REGISTRATION
Throughout summer we have six
registration days for incoming freshman in which they must attend
one. During these days they meet with an advisor, get their photo
ID taken and receive their parking permits.
Information on our late
registration group, which will be held on August 28, will soon be mailed to
any incoming student who has not registered.
