Community Engagement
Experiential education means learning, engaging, reflecting, integrating.
Students can access opportunities to engage with communities through our Center for Community Engagement and Social Research, building reciprocal relationships with partners and gaining skills through collaboration. This can take place through volunteer opportunities, service learning experiences, community engagement practices, internships or research.
Community Engagement Starts on Campus!
Community engagement starts with your on-campus community! Central has over 150 student clubs and organizations to choose from, giving students an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and create opportunities for engagement in the larger community.
Some of Central’s clubs and organizations include:
- Black Student Union
- Central Baseball Club
- Central Dance Team
- Fashion & Design Club
- Student Government Association
- The Recorder
- Women in STEM
- + dozens more!
Internships
CCESR encourages Central students to complete an internship to gain practical field experience and inform their next career steps after graduation. Although some academic programs require placement hours and others do not, all students should consider the invaluable work experience gained through an internship! Internship placements can be part-time or full-time and can extend over any period of time.
For those pursuing an unpaid internship, CCESR is here to help! Our unique internship stipend program provides students with up to $3000.
