Homecoming
2010 was a huge success! The Blue Devils staged an exciting 31-29 victory over Duquesne. Student school spirit was higher than ever, with a rollicking pep rally that is still echoing across campus. And a large number of alumni returned to share in good times and warm memories. We've captured some of the excitement in two online photo galleries. For homecoming, click here. New Vance Chair in Journalism
Hits Ground Running
|
|
|
John Dankosky, host of NPR's
Where We Live and the new chair
of the Robert C. Vance Endowed Chair
in Journalism & Mass Communications,
began his new CCSU appointment by
hosting a live version of his program
in CCSU's Torp Theatre. He was joined
by NPR's awarding-winning journalist
Peter Overby, former US Senate
candidate Ned Lamont (also
a faculty member at CCSU), and a
lively and engaged audience of students,
faculty, and community members.

|
The program's focus was "Money,
Politics, and Power," and provided
a rare behind-the-scenes look at
the show’s production and an opportunity
for the audience to add their voices
to a topic that has put Connecticut
in the national headlines. The program was broadcast on Connecticut's
NPR stations. To hear the program, click here.

Endowment Strength Growing--Again!
|
|
The strength of a university's
endowment is a mark of alumni
support, fiscal management,
and an institution's abilities
to support students and
to thrive as a university.
For nearly all universities
and colleges, the rough
financial seas of the past
few years have rocked endowments.
While CCSU's endowment was
similarly
hit
hard, it is now growing
in strength. For 2009-10,
our endowment grew 15.2%,
against growth of 13.5%
for our blended benchmark.
As of June 30, 2010, CCSU
had $25.7 million under
investment. This is a testament
to the prudent financial
management of the CCSU Foundation,
Inc., the caretakers of
the CCSU endowment. And
this should give all CCSU alumni
confidence in their university
and the enduring value of
their education.
