In 2010, the IMRP collaborated with the CCSU department of Communication to work with youth and have them create videos and portraits pertinent to their lives. PRODUCTION IN THE COMMUNITY combines filmmaking, mentorship and at-risk youth on the campus of Central Connecticut State University. The program was meant to focus on youth at-risk of violence and youth of incarcerated parents. This pilot was meant to work on reversing negative notions of academia through an engaging filmmaking curriculum, on going college exposure and mentorship all while creating a network of non-profit collaborators. This program was hosted by CCSU's Department of Communication, Jeffrey B. Teitler, the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy, sodexo, and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Our collaborating NGO's include Peacebuilders and Young Studios.
The program Continued to work with different non profits and organizations who deal with at risk youth. CCSU and IMRP continues to open their doors to these collaborations. Below you will see an example of one of the videos that was created after 8 sessions which were 2 hours long.
