Placement Testing
Placement exams for Math, Reading Comprehension, Spanish, French, German and English* are proctored by The Learning Center; the time and location for exam sessions will vary.
*the writing placement test will not be given to any student who has taken the SAT or ACT. Eligible students must present a confirmation ticket from the English Department prior to taking the writing placement test.

Seats are limited so please remember to call and schedule your appointment. To sign up for a placement test, contact The Learning Center at 860.832.1900. NOTE: Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will not be seated and you will have to reschedule.
Placement exams are computer based. Scrap paper is provided to exam takers.
Remember to bring the following items to your placement exam session:
- A Photo ID (i.e. driver's license or school ID); this is necessary for identification purposes.
- Your 8-digit CCSU ID Number (this can be found on your Blue Chip card). This is your your scores are recorded and reported.
- A Calculator (up to a TI-86). This is optional as a calculator is not necessary to complete the exam.
- A writing utensil.
Studies show that if your prepare for the placement exam, you will perform better!
