Social Science Hall

New Academic Building – outfitted 39 spaces in the new academic building (classrooms, computer labs and conference rooms) with the latest technology.  Installed teaching stations with digital control systems to enable HDMI capabilities and facilitate the use of mobile technologies. Five of the classrooms were also outfitted with SMART interactive displays.

Vance Academic Center 009

21st Century Classroom Pilot – outfitted this classroom to be TEAL-like (Technology Enabled Active Learning).  Replaced student desks with flexible furniture, added an interactive display (Touchit) and a regular display (total of 3 displays) to foster group work in the classroom. Upgraded teaching station to digital control system to enable HDMI capabilities and facilitate the use of mobile technologies. Also provided a mobility cart which contains 40 portable devices for student use.

Copernicus Hall 231

Science Building Lecture Hall - completely renovated lecture hall piloting Wall-talkers which is a special paint that is used on the projection wall that can also be written on with dry-erase markers. This allows flexibility in projection size while still affording whiteboard space in the front of the classroom. Upgraded teaching station to digital control system to enable HDMI capabilities.

Library 413

Distance Learning Classroom – new classroom with 3 displays to foster interactivity.  Piloted Modern Language courses with low enrollments and shared classroom instruction with sister institution Southern Connecticut State University.

Maria Sanford

21st Century Classroom Phase I – completely renovated eight classrooms primarily in Maria Sanford.  Upgraded HVAC, Window treatments, floors, lighting, furniture.  Upgraded teaching station to digital control system to enable HDMI capabilities.  Also added an interactive display to each classroom.  7 Classrooms in Maria Sanford and 1 in Henry Barnard halls.

Copernicus Hall

21st Century Classroom Phase I – provided three science labs with teaching stations that have digital control systems; enabling HDMI capabilities and facilitate the use of mobile technologies.

FY17

Television Studio

(Media)

Television Studio Move – moved the studio to the Library and did major upgrades to many of the components

including a new green wall, the lighting system, audio board, router and display technologies.  The studio is used for Communication and Journalism classes.

Maria Sanford 310

21st Century Classroom Phase II – renovate classroom completely including lighting, window treatments, furniture, carpeting, HVAC.  Install a new teaching station with a digital control system to enable HDMI capabilities and facilitate the use of mobile technologies. Increase student computers from 25 to 40.  This will be completed in June of 2017.
