The Engineering Department prepares students to become active partners with the engineers and to be team members of the total technological enterprise that extends from design, planning and production to construction and/or services.
Students who have chosen a specific academic program will be able to apply appropriate level of scientific, mathematical and basic engineering knowledge and methods, combined with technical skills, in support of engineering activities. In general, four-year planned course of study includes science, mathematics, computer graphics, communications and mechanics, along with laboratory courses in the technical specialization.
Students of senior standing within an accredited program are eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination as the first step towards obtaining their Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Application materials may be requested from the Department of Consumer Protection, 165 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106-1630; phone: (860) 713-6145. Additional information about the examination may be obtained from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Website at http://www.ncees.org.
