EIT Committee announces 2024 finalists, semi-finalists, and honor roll

Published:

The Excellence in Teaching (EIT) Committee announced on Feb. 23 the honor roll, semi-finalists, and finalists for the 2023 - 2024 Excellence in Teaching awards.

This year, students nominated 249 faculty (70 part-time and 179 full-time).  Of those nominees, 79 faculty submitted complete applications for the EIT Award consideration (20 part-time and 59 full-time). Members of the EIT Committee evaluated each faculty member; conducted in-depth discussions; and selected and interviewed semi-finalists.

In the announcement, EIT Committee co-chairs Matt Warshauer and Brian Osoba noted, “In many ways, the EIT Committee members love our work because we get to meet with so many amazing educators. Yet we also struggle with the work because we can’t choose every deserving faculty member. The genuine pangs that we felt in discussing the attributes of every candidate, and then being required to select only a few finalists, were quite real.”

The EIT Committee will commence visiting the finalists’ classrooms shortly and then vote on the winners. The committee will announce the winners at a celebration scheduled for Friday, May 3.
