Dr. Clay receives dissertation award

Assistant Professor of Anthropology Dr. Elizabeth C. Clay is the winner of the 2024 Kathleen Kirk Gilmore Dissertation Award for her 2021 University of Pennsylvania dissertation, “Slavery and Freedom on the Fringes of France: Historical Archaeology at Habitation La Caroline, French Guiana.” The award recognizes outstanding dissertations that contribute to historical archaeology.

The Society for Historical Archaeology presented the award to Dr. Clay on Jan. 3 during its annual meeting.
