Fitness Classes Begin on January 22nd
Balancing Body and Mind: This class supports relaxation, focus, self-awareness, optimal performance and "mental fitness". Mindfulness exercises and gentle movement will be integrated in all classes.
Mindful Movement: This class uses a combination of movement, postures and breath to work on strength, flexibility and balance. Beginners will safely learn the basics while more experienced students can take postures to a deeper level.
30/30: 30 second intervals of strength and/or ab training for only 30 minutes. This class works to build muscle and tone your body.
Bootcamp: 45 minutes of interval movement to get your body up and moving. The class begins with simple exercises and advances to high energy, calorie burning workouts.
Cycling: This Is a great workout that can be tailored to all levels: for our seasoned athletes, fitness fanatics, and exercise beginners. A typical class involves an instructor who leads the participants through routines that are designed to simulate terrain and situations similar to riding a bike outdoors, all at a self-directed pace. Movements and positions include hill climbs, sprints, and interval training. Instructors use music, motivation, visualization, and coaching to lead patrons through a ride that best suits their fitness level and goals.
Water Aerobics: Also called aqua aerobics, use the natural resistance and buoyancy of water against your body to provide a wide variety of conditioning activity. Aerobic activity is located in the swimming Kaiser Hall. Entrance through locker rooms.
Zumba: We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise.
Cardio Kick: Cardio kickboxing is a non-contact group fitness class that combines martial arts techniques with fast- paced cardio. This high-energy workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle with this fun and challenging workout.
Moment-to-Moment Meditation: "M2M" is a weekly meditation program that helps CCSU students, faculty, and staff decrease stress and increase compassion. The program is free and open to everyone. No experience or special clothing/equipment required. If you can breathe, you can meditate!
