The Latino and Puerto Rican Studies Program, is an exciting new program at CCSU with the mandate to foster education, student and faculty involvement, and research on U.S. Latino a populations and their concerns and issues. The Minor in Latino and Puerto Rican Studies enables students to engage new ideas, develop interdisciplinary skills, and gain in-depth understanding and specialized knowledge about U.S. Latinos and their contributions, challenges, and central role in U.S. history and contemporary society.
A minor program in Latino and Puerto Rican studies prepares students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical understanding of the social, economic, historical, and cultural conditions and impact of Latinos/as in the U.S. The program consists of a gateway introductory course in interdisciplinary Latino Studies (LTN 110), a capstone Individual Research Experience requirement (LTN 410), and 12 credits of electives, at least six of which must be at or above the 300 level.
