Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply to the MSA program?

The School of Business welcomes advanced level applicants from a broad range of abilities, interests and backgrounds to both the MSA and MBA programs. International applicants should also be aware of their additional requirements for admission. More information and to begin your application

Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE?

If you are a CCSU Accounting Grad with a GPA below 3.0 or if you are an Accounting Grad from another university you may be required to take the GMAT or the GRE. See the MSA Admission Requirements here or contact the Associate Director of Graduate Programs for details.

What score do I need on my GMAT or GRE?

CCSU uses an internal formula that includes your GPA and the GMAT or GRE scores. In other words, your minimum score will depend on your previous academic performance.

What is a "hybrid" or "blended" class delivery system?

A hybrid or blended delivery system means you will be taking your courses roughly half the time on site and half the time online. So, if you have a class that "meets" twice a week, one of those meeting times will be in the classroom and the other meeting time will be online.

Is the MSA @ CCSU a full-time program?

Students may attend on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending upon your own time commitments.

I travel a lot for my job – will I be able to miss classes?

Generally, we recommend not missing any classes. However, certain circumstances are unavoidable. If you know you are going to potentially miss a class, it is your responsibility to inform your professor and make arrangements well in advance.

What classes will I be required to take?

Students with a degree in accounting will take six required courses (18 credits) and four elective courses (12 credits) in the MSA @ CCSU.

How many credits is MSA @ CCSU?

It depends. Students with a bachelor's degree in accounting will be required to complete 30 credits. Students with other bachelor's degrees will be required to complete nine undergraduate accounting courses which are foundational to success in the MSA program if they have not already completed those courses. The maximum number of credits a student [with an undergraduate degree] would need to take is 57. See the Admission Standard and Curriculum webpage of the MSA Program. Note that if you have a bachelor's degree other than in accounting and your primary purpose of attending this program is to meet the 150-credit education requirement to become a certified public accountant in your state, you may wish to contact your state board of accountancy based on your particular circumstances, or contact the Associate Director of Graduate Programs.

How long will it take me to graduate?

It depends. Full–time students can finish in about one year. Part-time students can finish in eighteen months by completing two courses per semester. Others may decide to go at their own pace because of family and work commitments. We support what's best for you!

How much does it cost to apply?

There is a one time, non-refundable application fee of $50

I am currently at another university but want to transfer – will any of my graduate credits transfer?
