Homecoming 2010, October 8-9

Brenda Reilly Campaign Kicks Off

Brenda Reilly, Central women’s basketball coach for 25 years, touched the lives of her student athletes. Now a group of her former players, family, and friends have joined a campaign to name the new CCSU softball field in her memory. CCSU Rocks the Rock Cats in Support of Our Student Vets

Alumni Survey

The Office of Institutional Advancement is conducting a survey of Central alumni. Your participation in the brief five-minute survey will help guide future initiatives and will be greatly appreciated. You can access the survey at www.ccsu.edu/alumnisurvey. Information will be kept confidential and used in the aggregate to improve our ways of reaching out to you.

Securing Employment & Enhancing Career Advancement

Continuing Education and the Center for Advising & Career Exploration are presenting another seminar to help students and alumni find jobs and develop careers. The seminar takes place on October 21, 2010, from 6-8 pm, in the Blue & White Room in the Student Center. To register: 860-832-2269 or 860.832.2276. The seminar is free to CCSU students and costs only $15 for CCSU alumni. In addition to advice on job searches and exploring career opportunities, the seminar will offer practical exercises and advice for enhancing your interviewing skills.

Centralfocus Coming Your Way Soon

The Summer 2010 Centralfocus alumni magazine will be coming your way soon. This issue features interesting and provocative articles on Connecticut in the Civil War, the evolving social landscape of Northern Ireland, and Connecticut’s drug policy, plus alumni profiles, spring sports wrap up, and a new column, the Alumni Advisor, providing information you can use.

2010 Doris Honig Guenter Women and Film Festival, October 26-28

"Unlocked Images: Family, Warriors, and Art"
October 26-28, Torp Theater, Davidson Hall & New Britain Museum of American Art

This year’s festival features a selection of international and US women directors who are dealing with such diverse issues as female war veterans from Iraq, children of incarcerated parents and American-Indian women who belong to the Mohawk tribe. In all, 14 films will be shown. Each will also feature in discussion led by a CCSU faculty member, and three of the film directors will speak about their films.
