Health Insurance Information
aetna life insurance company
The insurance provider for students at CCSU is Aetna Student Health. A brochure about the student health insurance plan is available by clicking here. Other information may be found at their website: www.aetnastudenthealth.com . The AETNA insurance health plan can be purchased for full or part time students. Full-time students are automatically enrolled in the "sickness" portion of the plan and, if you have other coverage, you must complete an online waiver to avoid being charged for this plan. Click here for further information on the waiver process.
University Health Services has no direct connection to Aetna Student Health*. Please note that the health insurance waiver process has nothing to do with your required health information requirements. Please click here to review those requirements and avoid possible registration problems.
* Most services through CCSU University Health Services are no charge. We do charge for some testing and medications but do not bill third party insurances.
FOR FULL TIME STUDENTS:
The 'sickness' portion of the AETNA HEALTH INSURANCE plan appears as a separate item on your bill. The accident portion cost of AETNA Insurance plan is folded into the general fee on your semester bill. You may elect an alternative heath insurance coverage through an outside carrier of your choosing.
FOR PART TIME STUDENTS:
Part time students may elect the AETNA HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN through the University for a combined premium by contacting the AETNA LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY directly.
Insurance Coverage Highlights:
- $100,000 maximum
- No deductible for accidents, $25 annual deductible for sicknesses
- Prescriptions, outpatient, mental health, and inpatient surgery now covered to $100,000 plan maximum

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DENTAL PLAN OPTION CAN BE FOUND AT: www.aetnastudenthealth.com
All full time students are required to have health insurance to cover the costs of outpatient treatment of illnesses or injuries, out-patient diagnostic tests and procedures and the costs of hospitalization. Students are covered either by your own insurance plans through family or employee insurance and/or may opt to enroll in an insurance plan that is purchased through the University. If you elect not to carry the AETNA insurance plan offered through the University, you will have to waive out of it via the Central pipeline. If you do not waive the AETNA policy, you will be charged for it automatically.
