Carol A. Ammon Scholarship (2002)

  • Provides scholarship support to students who are currently enrolled as full-time, matriculated undergraduate and graduate students or students who have been accepted for enrollment as full-time, matriculated undergraduate and graduate students in the Carol A. Ammon School of Arts & Sciences at the University.  The Dean of the Carol A. Ammon School of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions and the Office of Financial Aid shall nominate recipients with a demonstrated lack of sufficient financial resources to meet the cost of higher education.

Sodexo Campus Dining Scholarship (2075) [Tourism & Hospitality Studies]

  • Provides scholarships to students who are Sodexo Campus Dining Associates in good standing.  Preference will be given to Associates who are majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Studies.

Timothy Rickard Scholarship (2145) [Geography]

  • Provides scholarships to junior undergraduate geography majors who shows the greatest promise as professional geographers, or to graduate and undergraduate Geography majors who present papers and otherwise participate in regional, national and international scholarly conferences in geography.

Mary, Aurea & Louis Gentile Scholarship (2385) [History]

  • Provides scholarships to support financially needy students majoring in History.

June Baker Higgins Scholarship (2415) [Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies]

  • Provides scholarship support for matriculated junior undergraduate students with a major or minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, who exhibit academic excellence and outstanding potential.

Merrill & Gertrude Bridge Scholarship (2475) [History]

  • Provides support for an undergraduate student majoring in History with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Miano Memorial Scholarship (2660) [Science, Mathematics, & Humanities]

  • Provides support for a junior level student chosen alternately from science or mathematics majors and arts or humanities majors; minimum grade point average of 3.0.

Hughson Mooney Scholarship (2695) [History]

  • Provides support for matriculated full-time junior level student majoring in History with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better who demostrates lack of sufficient means to meet the cost of higher education and documented efforts to finance higher education costs through full and part-time employment. 

Special Application Instructions:

Applicants must submit a statement not to exceed 300 words discussing their career goals, the manner in which a history degree will help them achieve those goals, and the financial constraints that they face.

Modern Languages Scholarship (2770) [Moderm Languages]

  • Provides scholarship support for students majoring in modern languages.

Dr. Anastasios Papathanasis Scholarship (2803) [Economics]

  • Provides support for student majorings in Economics with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and 15 earned credits in Economics who has demonstrated interest in Economics by contributing to either the University and/or community.

Rich Royster/Brittany Mariani Scholarship (2822) [Psychology]

  • Provides support for students majoring in Psychology.  Applicants must have completed at least 30 credit hours at CCSU with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.  At least 9 of these credits must be from Psychology courses at Central Connecticut State University.

Professor Ben Sevitch Communication Department Scholarship (2823) [Communication]

  • Awarded to the student majoring in Communication who starts the senior year with the highest cumulative grade point average.  The recipient must have earned a minimum of 30 credits at CCSU prior to the senior year.  The Foundation does not accept applications for this scholarship.

Jerome Vigdor Memorial Scholarship (2870)

  • Provides support for graduating senior in economics who has been accepted for graduate studies at an accredited college or university.

Paul Vouras Scholarship (2880) [Social Sciences, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, History]

  • Provides a prize for the graduating senior with the highest cumulative grade point average of a student majoring in social science, geography, sociology, political science, economics or history.

Timothy D. Shine Scholarship (4510) [Chemistry]

  • Provides support for an incoming first-year student or continuing student majoring in Chemistry.

Brian M. O'Connell Scholarship (4538)

  • Provides support for a full-time, matriculated undergraduate students at CCSU with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7, and at least 60 credits earned in residence at CCSU by the end of the spring semester in the academic year in which they apply for the scholarship.  Applicant must demonstrate qualities of service, leadership, and academic excellence.

Sigrid Schultz  Scholarship (9435) [Journalism]
  • Provides support to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Journalism.  Recipients of this scholarship are selected by means of a competition which is conducted by the Journalism faculty in the fall semester.  Consequently, applications for this scholarship are not accepted.
