IT Self-Help: Remote Application Server
What is the Remote Application Server?
The remote application server allows you to access Windows-based applications from any computer (Windows or Mac) or mobile device (smartphone or tablet) with an Internet connection. You can access software programs stored on the Remote Application Server without the hassle or expense of installing them on your home computer (see below for the list of available applications).
Access to Banner INB, Hyperion, and Remote Desktop via the Remote Application Server must be requested using the online Remote Access Opt-in Form.
How do I use the Remote Application Server?
We recommend that you use the Citrix Receiver application to access the remote application server. You may download Citrix Receiver for your operating system (Windows or Mac) from http://receiver.citrix.com/. You may also download the Citrix Receiver app for your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, other smartphones and tablets) from the “app store” for your device.
When you open the Citrix Receiver application for the first time, you will be prompted to set it up to connect to the CCSU server. At the prompt, enter the server address of https://xenapp.ccsu.edu/xml/config.xml.
When you are prompted to log in, enter the domain and then your BlueNet username (students enter ccsu_aca_comp\bluenetusername and faculty/staff enter ccsu_comp_srv\bluenetusername) and enter your password.
To open applications and add them as favorites within the Citrix Receiver application, click on the “+” button, then open the folder and application you wish to access. The application icon will be placed in the Citrix Receiver main window and then you may click on the icon to open the application.
Citrix Web Application
You may also use the web-based version of Citrix. Before using the web application, you will need to install the Citrix Receiver application (see above). To access the web application, open your web browser and navigate to https://apps.ccsu.edu, and then log in with your BlueNet username and password. To open an application, first open a folder (Academic Applications, Administrative Applications, or Public Applications) and then click on the application icon.
What Programs are accessible through the Remote Application Server?
Note: Depending upon your BlueNet Account, you may see a slightly different set of programs and options than represented on this list. If you require access to something listed here and do not have it, please call the IT Help Desk to request access.
