Yvette Ghannam BS ’94, MS ’06 received this year’s Community Service Award, for her dedication to improving the New Britain community.

Charles Jones BS ’69, MS ’72, was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for his 44 years of exceptional service to hundreds of students and student-athletes at CCSU.

Shari Lamont Day ’99 was honored with the Young Alumni Award. Day is the CEO and co-founder of LifExchange, a leader in international exchanges and recruitment.

And Ed Young, president of Hitchcock Printing and Distribution, treasurer and board member of the CCSU Foundation, Inc., and ardent fan of the Blue Devils, received this year’s Friend of the University Award. Young’s family created the Hitchcock-Young Athletic Development fund, providing student-athletes with financial support.

CCSUCCESS-ful Alumni in the News
June 15-16 was a big weekend for CCSU alumni. Erin Brady '10 was crowned Miss USA 2013, and CCSU Track & Cross Country Head Coach Eric Blake '03 became the King of the Mountain when he won the Mt. Washington road race.

In mid-July, in a sort of man-bites-dog story, Elliot Sudal '10 wrestled a shark to shore after the shark had chomped onto a fish he was reeling in. Sudal released the unhurt shark back into the waters off Nantucket.
