GENERAL INFORMATION

HOST UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the following sections in consultation with your advisor and after researching the host universities’ websites. Since space and allocation for incoming students can be limited and/or subject to change at the preferred host institution, we ask that you indicate an alternate university in the section below. Please also know that flexibility is essential when you consider the subjects that you hope to study abroad. Overseas universities do not often post course availability well in advance of the start of a semester.

The CIE is pleased to meet with you to review your plans and options – contact us with your questions!

ESSAY/STATEMENT OF PURPOSE REGARDING STUDY ABROAD PLAN

A key component of your Application to Study Abroad is your Statement of Purpose, which should have 2 parts.

The statement should explain how you intend to integrate your study abroad into your overall education - provide specifics about the relationship of off-campus study to your overall academic goals; to the fulfillment of your major, minor, or general education requirements; to the successful completion of your degree; and to other future goals you may have.

Your statement should also demonstrate that you have the personal maturity to study outside the U. S. where procedures, accommodations, student support services, and expectations can be quite different and how you expect to benefit personally from the experience.
