Sunday Maintenance

Every Sunday, between 3:00am – 11:00am, all systems will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.

 

Maria Sanford 3rd Floor Emergency Network Maintenance – Sunday, October 28th

On Sunday, October 28th from 8am – 4pm, all network services will be unavailable on the 3rd floor of Maria Sanford while we perform emergency network maintenance. After the maintenance is complete, it may be necessary to reboot/restart computers on the 3rd floor of Maria Sanford in order to gain access to the network.

 

Attention Banner Users – Early Registration Begins Friday November 2nd!

Web Registration for Spring 2013 begins Friday, November 2nd and is open through Friday, November 16th.  To ensure that registration isn’t negatively impacted for students, Information Technology is reminding all Banner users to execute large, Banner Job Submission processes during off-peak periods, prior to 7:00 am and after 4:30 pm.  Any large, Banner Job Submission process running during peak periods and interfering with Banner performance will be stopped without notification.  Your cooperation to privilege the registration process during the November 2-16 timeframe is necessary to safeguard that registration goes smoothly for students.

Classroom Instructor Workstation Reminders

If you are teaching in a classroom with an Instructor Workstation this semester, please remember that when class is over there are two important things you need to do. 1) LOGOFF the PC.  Do not Shutdown or Restart the PC, this could cause a significant delay for the next professor.  2) Press the green Power Display button to turn off the projector.  The projector bulb burns out based on usage time.  They are expensive to replace.  If the projector is left on it adds to usage and burnout time.

 

 

Blackboard Learn Updates

  • The creation of Blackboard Learn course shells is now automated for Winter Intersession 2013 and beyond.   Blackboard Learn is the official learning management system of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities.  Blackboard Vista is being phased out.   The process in place for creating Blackboard Vista shells has now been switched to creating Blackboard Learn shells.  For details on how to create a Blackboard Learn shell, please click here.  Creation of the Winter Intersession shells will be processed at the next timeslot listed.  While Spring 2013 course shells can be requested now, they will not be created until after November 16.
  • If you would still like to use Blackboard Vista for Winter Intersession 2013 or Spring 2013, please click here to request a Vista course shell.
  • The IDTRC is offering a condensed version of the Blackboard Learn workshop.  This workshop is 1.5 hours and covers the topics you will need to get you started using Blackboard.  We invite you to attend a session.  Please click here to view the workshop schedule and to register.
