Fitness Class Descriptions

     Thanks for coming to our group fitness page. Navigating your way here is the first step in joining the group fitness movement and beginning or continuing an active, healthy, and fun lifestyle. Why do people workout in groups? It creates a sense of community, energy, shared purpose, and motivation. Simply put: you're in it together. 

     Our instructors are all trained and certified in their specific disciplines and cater their classes to all ability levels, ensuring you will leave their group class experiencing a workout that suits you individually. Whether you're new or experienced in the world of group fitness, check out the description for the class you are interested in to make sure you are prepared for your first class here at RECentral.



Bootcamp: Is a great workout for any level of fitness. Don’t let the name fool you.  Get ready to put the WORK back into your routine! We'll be working hard, indoors and out, using body weight exercises and drills to kick up that metabolism, strengthen those muscles, and elevate the heart rate. 


Boxing: Is an introductory class into the sport of boxing. You will learn strength and speed exercises along with basic boxing punches. Key skills for boxing include: Speed, Power, Agility and Endurance. Boxing is an explosive, ballistic sport.

Cardio Dance

Cardio Dance: Features energetic hip-hop styled dance choreography that makes this class one of the most upbeat and fun cardio classes out there! Learn the latest dance moves to the hottest and most current music! Trim and fit waistlines, arms, and backsides will result from these hip shaking moves that will let the inner-dancer in you shine.

Cardio Muay Thai

Cardio Muay Thai: High Paced muay thai class encompassing punching, kicking, kneeing, and elbowing, plyometrics and core are utilized as well.

Cardio Sculpt

Cardio Sculpt: This class combines Cardio 30 with Total Body Sculpting for a fun mix of Hi/Lo cardio combos, drills and muscle conditioning.


Core Incinerator

Core Incinerator: A high intensity core workout that is low impact but will challenge you to the fullest. Followed by flexibility training.


Crossfit: Is a strength and conditioning program designed to help people gain a broad and general fitness. CrossFit programming concentrates on constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity to achieve overall physical fitness, so people are prepared for any physical challenge.

Full Body Burn

Full Body Burn: Combination of body weight exercises, plyometrics, and weight training. Aerobic and anaerobic effect.


HIIT: High-Intensity Interval Training involves alternating periods of short, intense exercises with less-intense recovery periods. This cardio based class will give you a full-body workout, improved fat-burning and increased athletic condition.

Indoor Cycling

Indoor Cycling: Is a great workout that can be tailored to all levels: for our seasoned athletes, fitness fanatics, and exercise beginners. A typical class involves an instructor who leads the participants through routines that are designed to simulate terrain and situations similar to riding a bike outdoors, all at a self-directed pace. Movements and positions include hill climbs, sprints, and interval training. Instructors use music, motivation, visualization, and coaching to lead students through a ride that best suits their fitness level and goals. More than just a great workout – indoor cycling creates a sense of community, shared purpose, and lasting lifestyle change. Of course if you're looking for a calorie-burning, energizing, fun workout, we can help with that too.


INSANITY: Is a cardio class, based on max interval training. This class will push you past your limits with athletic/plyometric drills mixed with intervals of strength, power, resistance, and core training. No equipment or weights needed. You don't have to be in extreme shape– levels of each exercise are provided. Time to dig deep!


Kickboxing: Get your sweat on and anger out in this kickbox style class while jamming out to your favorite songs. Jabs, uppercuts, and kicks are choreographed to get your heart pumping using body weight exercises. Strengthen your muscles and keep your core tight and firm!


Pilates Conditioning

Pilates Conditioning: Pilates strengthens the core abdominal muscles referred to as the "powerhouse". Using the core as the focus of all movement, the muscles of the human body learn to strengthen and elongate using proper body mechanics.  The class is combined with conditioning using weights and target exercises for desired areas of improvement.

Practical Self Defense

Practical Self Defense: Based on situations that would require knowledge of basic, practical self defense. Largely focusing on weapon slf defense such as knives and guns. Less of a cardo based class, more of a technique/knowledge based class.



Ride and Rip

Ride and Rip: Our typical indoor cycling class with a little spin on it! The first half-hour consists of your normal cycling routine with the second half-half consisting of and upper body and ab workout. Movements and positions include hill climbs, sprints, and interval training. Instructors use music, motivation, visualization, and coaching to lead students through a ride that best suits their fitness level and goals. You get a complete total body workout in one hour! Beginner to advanced fitness levels welcome!

Sport Conditioning Bootcamp

Sport Conditioning Bootcamp: Is 60 minutes of cardio, strength and athletic drills to get your heart pumping, mind focused, and body sweating while putting you to the ultimate test.


Yoga: Yoga can be as much or as little as you want it to be. For soe it is purely a physical pursuit, keeping the body toned, strong and flexible. For others, yoga becomes more of a mindset and a way of living. Yoga, like life is about finding bliss and serenity in the moment. So come in, relax, and learn to 'be' your Yoga.


Zumba: Is a high energy Latin inspired dance fitness program that involves dance and aerobic elements. Unlike a typical dance class where counts are used, Zumba involves following the music with repetitive movements and choreography that incorporates hip-hop, samba, salsa, meringue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves in addition to squats and lunges. Join this exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness party that’s moving millions of people toward happy and healthy lifestyles. At CCSU Zumba classes are 45 minutes bring friends to spice up the party!
