CCSU’s Faculty Senate is the sole university-wide legislative body representing the teaching and administrative faculty. As such, it is an important instrument for faculty governance. In addition to establishing policies for curriculum, degree requirements, scholastic standards, and student behavior and admission, it also safeguards academic freedom. This work is conducted through the work of numerous standing and ad hoc committees that report to the Senate.
Each department is represented on the Senate with at least one senator. You senator can be an excellent resource for understanding the Senate’s duties and current agenda items.
Anyone is welcomed to attend Senate meetings, which generally occur during the academic year on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, 3:05 pm – 5:00 pm, in Vance Academic Building 105.
You can learn more about the Faculty Senate by following the links at its website: http://www.ccsu.edu/page.cfm?p=6951 . There you will find a roster of senators and officers, committee pages listing membership and responsibilities, as well as upcoming agendas and minutes from past meetings.
