Sunday Maintenance Reminder

Every Sunday from 12am until 12pm all Systems (e-mail, Banner, wireless, etc.) will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.


Weekly Maintenance – Reminder

Please log off your computer when leaving for the day every Thursday, but do not power it off.  This will allow updates to be sent down to your computer on Friday after 12:00am.  If you turn your computer off and leave it off overnight on Thursday, shortly after turning it back on, your computer will restart in order to install and apply any updates. If you leave your computer logged in Thursday night into Friday, you may lose any unsaved data you were working on when the computer restarts.

Banner Outage – June 25

On Saturday, June 25 from 4pm until midnight, all access to Banner systems will be unavailable.  This includes WebCentral-Banner Web Services, Internet Native Banner (INB), as well as all third party applications and reporting tools that access the Banner production database. CentralPipeline will be available for access to Blackboard Learn, Outlook Web Mail, Accounts Management and other online systems. 


Network Maintenance – June 26 in the Library

The Elihu Burritt Library will undergo network maintenance on Sunday, June 26.  This outage will occur during the normal Sunday maintenance window however it is highly recommended that all computers are powered off before the outage to ensure computers reconnect to the new network environment.

Please contact the IT Help Desk should you experience network issues after this maintenance is performed.

New Phone System

Information Technology  is pleased to announce that we will be updating our phone system over the summer of 2016.  The current Avaya phone system is over 20 years old and no longer being supported by the manufacturer.  We will be moving to a new Cisco Voice over IP (VoIP) phone system. Over the next few weeks IT will share the training and deployment plan with the campus.  We plan on offering training classes beginning later this month and will run  through the end of September.  We also hope to have all the phones deployed by mid-August.

SafeAssign and Blackboard Learn

The SafeAssign tool built-in to Blackboard Learn compares submitted assignments against a set of academic papers to identify areas of overlap between the submitted assignment and existing works to help prevent plagiarism. The results from the SafeAssign service are only meant to be a tool for use at the discretion of the teacher or instructor. Due to the size and scope of both academic subject matter and the number of resources searched by SafeAssign, the results are not meant to guarantee or otherwise indicate that plagiarism has or has not occurred.
