Mileage Reimbursement For Inter-Campus Travel

When faculty are assigned teaching duties at an alternate campus location other than Central, New Britain, reimbursement for mileage when using a personally owned vehicle will be made following current policy:

Transportation of any kind between an employee's home and official duty station is not reimbursable. If the use of a personally owned motor vehicle by an employee is authorized to be used for official State business, and the employee leaves from and returns to his/her home rather than his/her duty station, the employee shall be reimbursed at an established mileage rate for travel on official State business less his/her commute from home to his/her official duty station.

To provide accurate reimbursement:

  • An official duty station must be declared
  • All "To/From" destinations must be detailed and specific on the travel voucher (i.e., not only "Central to Waterbury")
  • Example (assume duty station is Central New Britain and home is Torrington):
  • (assume scheduled work day)

    Torrington to New Britain=27 miles

    Waterbury to Torrington=21 miles
    Total=73 miles
    Less R/T Home to Duty Station=(54) miles
    Reimbursed=19 miles
