When faculty are assigned teaching duties at an alternate campus location other than Central, New Britain, reimbursement for mileage when using a personally owned vehicle will be made following current policy:
Transportation of any kind between an employee's home and official duty station is not reimbursable. If the use of a personally owned motor vehicle by an employee is authorized to be used for official State business, and the employee leaves from and returns to his/her home rather than his/her duty station, the employee shall be reimbursed at an established mileage rate for travel on official State business less his/her commute from home to his/her official duty station.
To provide accurate reimbursement:
- An official duty station must be declared
- All "To/From" destinations must be detailed and specific on the travel voucher (i.e., not only "Central to Waterbury")
- Example (assume duty station is Central New Britain and home is Torrington):
(assume scheduled work day)
Torrington to New Britain = 27 miles New Britain to Waterbury = 25 miles Waterbury to Torrington = 21 miles Total = 73 miles Less R/T Home to Duty Station = (54) miles Reimbursed = 19 miles (assume scheduled work day)
Torrington to Waterbury = 21 miles Waterbury to Torrington = 21 miles Total = 42 miles Less R/T Home to Duty Station = (54) miles Reimbursed = 0 (assume non-scheduled work day)
Torrington to Waterbury = 21 miles Waterbury to Torrington = 21 miles Total Reimbursed = 42 miles (assume scheduled work day)
Torrington to New Britain = 27 miles New Britain to Waterbury = 25 miles Waterbury to New Britain = 25 miles New Britain to Torrington = 27 miles Total = 104 miles Less R/T Home to Duty Station = (54) miles Reimbursed = 50 miles
