Why Get Involved?

Volunteering, service learning, community-based research, and other community engagement activities can expose students to real world challenges that affect our diverse community. Hands-on experiences allow students to think critically about the impact of these issues while working alongside and learning from community and industry experts. Working with community members, businesses, and nonprofit organizations helps students build resumes, become familiar with industries or areas of personal interest, and become better prepared with the interpersonal, technical, and professional skills needed to achieve success in the workforce.

The Office of Community Engagement is here as resource, not only for the individual student, but also for student clubs and organizations interested in contributing to the larger community or simply looking for bonding opportunities. We can connect you with one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities based on community need through our community partnerships.

Below, you will find a partnership directory with the partnerships the Office of Community Engagement has fostered with the City of New Britain, categorized by focus area. Click on each organization for further detail on what they do, who they serve, and contact information.

Please feel free to contact our office at if you need further assistance in identifying a community partner that fits your needs/interest.
