CCSU is happy to have our residential students back on campus for the Fall 2020 semester!
Student health and safety is our top priority, and we are adhering to guidelines and recommendations issued by the Center for Disease Control, State of Connecticut, and the Connecticut State College & University System.

Residence Hall Protocols
Following the State of Connecticut's guidelines for reopening university campuses this fall, CCSU will open seven residence halls. Significant modifications in occupancy rates will be implemented, in addition to numerous health and safety precautions, equipment, and resources.
COVID-19 Testing Requirements
We know your pre-semester checklist is probably getting longer by the day, but COVID-19 testing should be at the top of it if you are a resident student. Up-to-date negative test results from our residential students and staff will get the semester off to a healthy start and help contain the spread of COVID-19.
In the section below, we review the guidelines for resident, commuter, and international student testing and plans for ongoing testing on campus.
Drop-off & Move-In
We have made significant changes to move-in procedures and our residence hall operations to ensure compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines. If additional revisions are required due to changing pandemic conditions, this web page will be updated. Please check back regularly for the latest information.
Instead of the traditional “move-in weekend,” the Residence Life team created a two-phase residence hall reopening plan to minimize the number of people on site in accordance with State of Connecticut guidelines.
Programming & Events
We have some great and safe programs in the works! Due to social distancing guidelines, many residence hall programs will be held virtually, and those that are held in person will have a maximum attendance cap based on the size/social distancing capacity of the programming space.
We also have identified spaces on campus that safely accommodate 40-plus students; among them, the Elihu Burritt Library, the Willard-DiLoreto atrium, Founders Hall, Alumni Hall, the Student Center, Kaiser Gymnasium, and Devil’s Den.
Visitor Access to Campus
No family or guests will be permitted within residence halls. We recognize that resident-students will want (and need) to have visitors from time to time during the semester. The University has developed a family living room in Hilltop Cafe, where safety precautions can be observed and scheduled visits can take place. That room will be deep cleaned between visits. In addition, CCSU has established an outdoor tented space on the Vance Green to support somewhat larger, socially distanced opportunities. Visits in either location must be scheduled in advance through Residence Life. Additional locations may be added during the semester.
Conclusion of Fall Semester
Please keep in mind that all resident-students are required to completely move out of their residence halls by 8 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2020. (Those with special circumstances may work out alternate plans with Residence Life staff.) The last weeks of classes and final exams will be conducted online.
Residence halls will reopen before Spring 2021 classes begin on Jan. 26. In keeping with your health and safety protocols, we will schedule a time for the drop-off of your belongings prior to the official reopening of the residence halls. During Winter Break, you will receive an email with instructions for scheduling a drop-off time and information about COVID-19 testing requirements.
