Sports Medicine at Central Connecticut State University

Sports Medicine at Central Connecticut State University has two basic and essentially interrelated functions: Service to the intercollegiate athletic teams and Education in the Athletic Training Professional Program leading to the Master of Science degree in Athletic Training. The athletic training program 1) provides quality health care to the student athletes of the university, and 2) to prepare the student athletic trainer to assume the role of an entry-level athletic trainer upon graduation.

The athletic training staff strives to protect and return the injured student athlete to sport participation as quickly and safely as possible. The athletic training staff possesses knowledge in injury prevention; injury recognition, evaluation, and assessment; immediate care; and the treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries. The staff maintains current in knowledge and skills through participation in regular in-services and attendance at educational conferences annually.
