Attorney Carolyn A. Magnan
Attorney Carolyn A. Magnan joined CCSU's senior staff in January 2002 following a two-year stint as an employment and labor attorney in CCSU’s Human Resources office.
As University Counsel, Ms. Magnan provides advice to President Zulma R. Toro and other members of the University's senior staff. She has served and continues to serve on the President's Executive Committee, the University's Facilities Planning Committee, its Critical Incident Team and its Threat Assessment Team. She also has chaired the President's Taskforce on Journalistic Integrity and staffed the President's Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity.
A native of Jamaica, Ms. Magnan came to the United States to attend Blackburn College in Illinois. After graduating summa cum laude, she worked at Travelers Insurance Company in several states before settling in Hartford. She earned her J.D. degree with honors from UConn Law School in 1991.
Her legal career includes assignments in private practice and as a Connecticut assistant attorney general specializing in litigation, employment and business law. She has served as a member of Connecticut's Client Security Fund, a position appointed by the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
