Charlene Casamento

Charlene A. Casamento joined CCSU as the Chief Financial Officer in February 2012. She is responsible for the University’s financial management including fiscal analysis, operating budgets, payroll, accounts payable, contract compliance, procurement, travel, Bursar’s Office, and Card Office. She works collaboratively with the Executive Committee to develop strategies and solutions to address deficiencies, rescissions, and new programs. Additionally, she works continuously to enhance transparency through the implementation of a historical expense website.

Charlene serves on the Enrollment Management Council, as well as the University Planning and Budget Committee and the Integrated Planning Council, with the latter two facilitating transparent financial and budget discussions across the University. In addition to her financial duties, Charlene oversees the University’s Operational Logistics and Event Management Office, Mail Room, and Copy Center.

Charlene is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of experience in financial services with the public and private sectors. She has held various financial roles with different agencies in the State of Connecticut and several health insurance organizations. Prior to joining CCSU, she worked as the Bureau Chief of Finance and Administration for the Department of Transportation. During this time, she managed $800 million in capital funds and $500 million in appropriation funds. Additionally, she served as the Chief Negotiator for a $500 million Concessions Agreement, as well as an $18 million settlement for the State of Connecticut.

Charlene holds a Certified Public Accountant designation and earned her B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University and her MBA from the University of Hartford.
