Engineering the Future with Expertise
The Central Department of Engineering is known for its blend of analytical and practical education. Our faculty have almost 300 combined years of industry experience, and so know what skills and abilities our students will need. Our small classes and focus on undergraduate education mean that our students are well prepared for any future they choose.
We offer four different degrees: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering students may add a concentration in either Aerospace or Manufacturing. All students complete a year-long design project at the end of their degree.
The students in our department come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many have significant prior experiences including military service and full-time employment in industry. This diversity, along with the many student clubs, including the FSAE race car, Steel Bridge, and the Society of Women Engineers, means that our students are a unique source of strength in our department.
