CollegeNET, Inc. ranked Central at #36 out of 1,200 colleges and universities nationwide on its economic mobility index (SMI). Among higher education institutions in Connecticut, Central holds the number-one spot.
The SMI measures the extent to which a college or university educates economically disadvantaged students at lower tuition who go on to graduate and find good-paying jobs.
Rankings are calculated from six variables: ethos, published tuition, percent of student body whose families whose incomes are below $48K (slightly below the U.S. median), graduation rate, median salary approximately five years after graduation, and endowment.
