Meet the Director
Sarah Bowe is a conductor, ensemble artist, and educator who will be relocating to Connecticut from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ms. Bowe most recently served as Director of Music at St. Alban’s Chapel in Baton Rouge, and is currently a candidate for a doctorate in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University. While at LSU, she assistant-conducted the A Cappella Choir, Women’s Chorale, and the Tiger Glee Club, and taught aural skills and choral conducting.
Ms. Bowe has provided workshops for choirs in Louisiana and Texas, and presented educator clinics in Louisiana and Texas, including at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. Locally, Ms. Bowe served as the choir conductor at Laurel Music Camp in New Hartford, CT. Prior to graduate study, Ms. Bowe was an active music educator and music director in her home state of Massachusetts, and held secondary teaching positions in the Winchendon, Woburn, and Springfield school districts.
As a soprano, Ms. Bowe sings regularly with Red Shift, a Baton Rouge-based professional ensemble of which she is a founding member. Red Shift will perform at the College Music Society Conference in Vancouver, BC, this fall. Ms. Bowe’s other upcoming engagements include studying and performing at the Seraphic Fire Professional Choral Institute at Aspen Music Festival later this summer.
Ms. Bowe is completing her D.M.A. in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University, and holds an M.M. and a B.M. summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
