STUDENT UNION BOARD OF GOVERNORS CONSTITUTION
April 11, 2002
Reference: ARTICLE 4.0 – APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
Line 4.19 – The three At-Large students representing diverse or special
campus interests shall be nominated by a SUBOG selection committee and ratified
by the new SUBOG.
Proposed change:
Line 4.19 – The two At-Large students representing diverse or special
campus interests shall be nominated by a SUBOG selection committee and ratified
by the new SUBOG.
Line 4.21 – The Chairperson of the Mosaic Center Committee
automatically becomes a Board member upon the ratification of the Mosaic Center
Committee Chair Selection process. (14.6).

Line 11.1 – Recommendations of removal of any member of the Board,
Program Council, or Mosaic Center Committee can be initiated on the
following grounds:
Line 11.11 – Failure to perform duties stated in 5/31, Section 9.3,
Section 9.5, Section 14.5 of this Constitution.

Line 11.2 – The following procedures shall be adhered to in removal of
student Board members, Program Council officers or coordinators, and officers
of the Mosaic Center Committee.

Line 11.221 – This committee shall be composed of two students and one
faculty member from the Board and one Student Center or Student
Activities/Leadership Development professional staff member.

Line 11.223 – In the event that charges are brought against a Program
Council Officer or Coordinator, the Program Council shall have prerogative of
appointing a temporary Officer or Coordinator if it deems necessary.
In the case of the Mosaic Center, the Mosaic Center Committee shall have
the prerogative of appointing a temporary Officer if it deems necessary.

ARTICLE 14.0: MOSAIC
CENTER COMMITTEE
14.1
Name
The multicultural concerns body of the SUBOG shall be known as the Mosaic
Center Committee.
14.2
Functions
The Mosaic Center Committee will be responsible for the Mosaic Center,
which will be a place where students who wish to interact over multicultural
opportunities can meet. The Mosaic
Center Committee’s function shall be to develop resources and programs that
reflect the diversity of the campus. The
Mosaic Center Committee will be responsible for the development of an ongoing
cultural series that expands the campus’ appreciation of multiculturalism. A library of resources will also be established.
14.3
Membership
14.31
Membership on the Mosaic Center Committee shall be voluntary and open to
the entire student body.
14.32
Each member must be a student in good academic standing as defined by the
University.
14.33
A Department of Student Activities/Leadership Development professional
staff member, as designated by the Director of Student Activities/Leadership
Development, shall serve as advisor to the Mosaic Center Committee.
The Director and professional staff of the Student Activities/Leadership
development office shall be ex-officio nonvoting members of the Mosaic
Center Committee.
14.4
An Active Member
Will be involved in the workings
of the Committee, its planning process, as well as event presentation.
This requires weekly involvement.
14.5
Officers of the Mosaic Center Committee
14.51 The
Chairperson of the Mosaic Center Committee will preside over all the Committee
meetings and activities and will be responsible to the SUBOG’s Chairperson for
reporting on the accomplishments of the Mosaic Center Committee; furthermore,
the Chairperson will act as a liaison to other campus organizations for the
purpose of promoting diversity through the resource of the Mosaic Center.
14.52 The
Secretary/Treasurer shall keep minutes of the weekly meetings, a Committee
roster, and will manage the Committee budget as well as present a monthly report
for the SUBOG.
14.6
Selection of Mosaic Center Committee Officers
14.61 Each Mosaic Center Committee officer must be a full-time, undergraduate student, who has served as an active member of the Mosaic Center Committee for at least one semester.
14.62
Officers must be in good academic standing as defined by the University.
14.63
Selection will take place in April of each year.
14.64
Candidates must make application for positions no later than two weeks
before selection.
14.65
Selection Committee shall be composed of: outgoing Mosaic Center
Committee Chairperson, current SUBOG chairperson, current or incoming Program
Council president, Mosaic Center Committee advisor, a current member of the
Mosaic Center Committee, and two (2) representatives from cultural student
organizations.
14.66
If any Selection Committee member is a candidate for Chairperson or
Secretary/Treasurer, they shall be excluded from the Committee.
14.67
If the Mosaic Center Committee Chairperson is a candidate, the SUBOG
Chairperson will preside over the selection.
14.7
Meetings
14.71
The Mosaic Center Committee shall meet weekly or more frequently as seen
by the Chairperson.
14.72
All Mosaic Center Committee meetings shall be conducted according to the
rules which the Chairperson deems necessary, whether it be Robert’s Rules of
Order – Revised or some other form, when not in conflict with this
Constitution and established Mosaic Center Committee operating procedures.
14.8
Vacancies
14.81
Vacancies in Mosaic Center Committee officer positions shall be filled
per Section 14.6.
