MINUTES - Wednesday, February 14, 2001
Present: S.
Collier (Chair), F. Mendoza, D. Orloske, L. Papacostas, S. Rich, P. Rosa, D.
Ross, R. Schneeweiss
Guest:
G. Campos, M. Palermo, A. Thomas
Ms.
Collier called the meeting to order at 5:12 p.m. She asked Mr. Orloske to give the Renovation Update.
He reported that a significant quantity of asbestos needs to be removed
and this will push the construction schedule back two months.
The steel framing on new parts of the building has commenced.
A field trip to the Student Center will take place in warmer weather
before the end of the semester.
Mr.
Schneeweiss then gave the Program Council (PC) report in the absence of PC
president, Tara Banks. The PC has
had a daylong retreat. It is
working with the Inter-Residence Council (IRC) on Spring Week.
Further, the PC would like the Student Government Association (SGA) to
partner in on this project, also.
A
general meeting of the PC was held on February 12. The PC Spotlite Committee’s Open Mic nights continue to be
successful. They are working with
Chartwells concerning issues in the set-up of Grand Central Café.
The
Winter Week program featured the One-Ton Sundae, James Mapes, and Starflix (make
your own video).
Fernando
Mendoza gave the Mosaic Center Committee report. He outlined the Mosaic Series and highlighted the recent
appearance of Jane Elliott on February 13.
There were over 350 present for Ms. Elliott’s program, “You Were Not
Born a Bigot.”
Under
Open Floor, the SUBOG meeting time was discussed. Mr. Orloske suggested that the time be announced early in the
summer and that when one accepts a seat on the Board, they have set their
schedules, accordingly, to attend all SUBOG meetings.
There
being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
Robert
Schneeweiss
Executive Secretary SUBOG
2000-2001
