What is Talent Search?
Educational Talent Search (ETS) at Central Connecticut State University is a federally funded, early intervention TRiO program. ETS offers support and guidance for students to complete high school and pursue a college education. The program identifies and assists 500 students in grades 6-12, who are enrolled in the Consolidated School District of New Britain. TRiO ETS students must be from populations traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education (i.e. first generation potential college and low-income students).
In addition to counseling and tutoring, students receive information about college admissions requirements, scholarships, and various student financial aid programs. We provide services that assist students in graduating from high school and enrolling in the college or university of their choice. This concentrated effort helps young people to better understand their educational opportunities and career options. More than 389,000 Americans are enrolled in 475 TRiO Educational Talent Search Programs across the nation.
TRiO Educational Talent Search at Central Connecticut State University strives to create an atmosphere where eligible participants are academically prepared, intellectually challenged, nurtured and exposed to experiences that enhance their potential to succeed on the secondary level and in higher education, while also promoting personal growth and cultural diversity.
Our ultimate goal is to help youth that are from disadvantaged, underrepresented backgrounds, complete high school and then enroll in postsecondary education.
