News and Announcements September, 2008 Director's Corner: Greetings All As many of you may know, I was on sabbatical for the past year and would like to thank Dr. Dornan for doing an excellent job as the Interim Director for the program. I would also like to thank Dr. Cindy Pope for assisting over the summer. I am very excited about the continued growth and success of our program, and look forward to this year. With the help of our THS advisory faculty committee and the support of tourism industry professionals, we will continue to offer our students the educational and practical experience necessary for them to succeed in this competitive industry. Over the past 4 years, our program has grown from approximately 20 students to 70, and we continue to attract transfer students from both our state community colleges and from other reputable regional schools such as Johnson and Wales. We believe our unique blend of courses from both the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business provides our students with a unique perspective on tourism and hospitality, that will better prepare them for managerial positions in the industry. Our students are finding plenty of exciting internship and employment opportunities in the region, and we are committed to helping our students find the right job for them. Our curriculum will continue to evolve in order for us to meet the needs of both the traditional hospitality industry (i.e., hotels, resorts etc. ) and those specific needs of the growing Culinary and Cultural/Heritage tourism sectors which includes so many for-profit and non-profit organizations. Above all we want to create a flexible program that meets the needs of our students and the private and public sector of the industry. We welcome any question sand comments regarding our program and look forward to a great new year here at CCSU. Announcements:
