Our department has a new faculty member, Betsy Dobbs-McAuliffe. She'll start in the Fall, but she will be here visiting on Thursday, April
12, starting at 2 pm. You remember her--she's coming from Wesleyan University and she studies developmental biology of zebrafish. Join us in

BMS Graduate Graduate Wins Award
Yvette Ghannam, one of the first graduate students to receive an MA degree from our department, has been honored with a Personal Achievement
Award for the "dedication and professionalism" she brings to her work as a bacteriologist at the Greenwich Health Department Laboratory.

Time Again for Exit Interviews
If you're graduating from the BMS department this spring, you'll need to schedule (and show up for!) your exit interview to complete
the department's Student Portfolio Requirement. The
linked flyer describes how to sign up and what to bring. Note: this is required for
those graduating in May of August 2007, but is also available for any eager-beaver-get-things-done-way-ahead-of-time folks graduating in

ECSC Alert!
That's Eastern Colleges Science Conference, the yearly event where CCSU student researchers shine.
The meeting this year is at the College of Mt Saint Vincent, NY, on April
20-22. Yes, that's over a month away, but the deadline for meeting
registration is March 6, so we've got to hustle! Jim Mulrooney will take
care of registration details, but you need to submit a short information
form to him by Monday, March 5. More information about the meeting will be
posted here soon; you can also visit the

The Candidate Fun Has Just Begun!
This Thursday, March 1, will be the first of the on-campus interviews for
the new BMS faculty member. The candidate will meet with students (yes, this
means you!) at 3 pm in NC 24401, followed by a research seminar at 4 pm in NC
210. Please come to one or both of these events. We want the candidate to
meet you and we want to get your impressions of the candidate. there will be
several more interviews over the next two weeks; check this space for
further dates and times. Remember, the person we choose could be one of your
