Welcome to the 2006 Annual Design Contest

Objective

The objective of this project is to encourage students to get involved in a complex and practical design project (learn why you should participate). Designing a battery-less cell phone is an innovative project in which students must combine their knowledge in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering together, while using their artistic ability. The design has no restrictions. Students are free to consider any available cell phone and turn it into a battery-less cell phone. Final projects will be scored based on the following criteria:

  • Functionality

  • Neatness and durability

  • Life time duration

Finalists are highly encouraged to publish their work in one of the accredited technical conferences. You may also have a chance to participate in Maker Faire and meet over 20,000 Makers and Crafters of all ages converged for a weekend of projects. Your project can also be published in MAKE Magazine

Upon instructor's permission, all participating students can use this project as their capstone project.
