Mission
Statement
The mission of the Sponsored Programs
Office, reporting through the Associate Vice President/Dean of Graduate
Studies, is to provide support to faculty and staff in their efforts to secure financial
support for research and other scholarly activities.
Services
Specific services include:

Identification
of potential sponsors,
-
Notification of upcoming funding opportunities,
-
Liaison with funding agencies,
-
Assistance with proposal
and budget preparation and
submission,
-
Responsible for
compliance with Federal and State regulations
in such areas as misconduct in research, financial disclosure policy, and
protection of human and/or animal subjects in research,
-
Liaison to the CCSU Human Studies Council which reviews all research
proposals involving human subjects,
-
Secure
appropriate internal approvals/signatures for external grants.
In addition to working with external grants, SPO administers
four CCSU internal grant programs: Faculty-Student Research, CSU/AAUP
University Research, Faculty Development, and Summer Curriculum Development.
SPO announces the guidelines and application information for these grants
and also works with the Office of Grants Administration in monitoring post
award expenditures. Final reports, due upon completion of the grants, are
collected and maintained by SPO.

SPO
offers consultations and seminars in grantsmanship
in several different settings. One-on-one consultation with faculty
regarding grants is available on an appointment basis. Faculty workshops are
offered periodically throughout the academic year. Workshops may focus on
general grant subjects, internal CCSU grants, or specific grant
competitions. On occasion, representatives from funding agencies are invited
to campus to discuss funding opportunities with faculty.
