Mission Statement
The mission of the Sponsored Programs Office, reporting through the Associate Vice President/Dean of Graduate Studies, is to provide support to faculty and staff in their efforts to secure financial support for research and other scholarly activities.

Services
Specific services include:

  • Identification of potential sponsors,

  • Notification of upcoming funding opportunities,

  • Liaison with funding agencies,

  • Assistance with proposal and budget preparation and submission,

  • Responsible for compliance with Federal and State regulations in such areas as misconduct in research, financial disclosure policy, and protection of human and/or animal subjects in research,

In addition to working with external grants, SPO administers four CCSU internal grant programs: Faculty-Student Research, CSU/AAUP University Research, Faculty Development, and Summer Curriculum Development. SPO announces the guidelines and application information for these grants and also works with the Office of Grants Administration in monitoring post award expenditures. Final reports, due upon completion of the grants, are collected and maintained by SPO. The Grants-At-A-Glance describes in more detail the information related to these internal grants.

SPO offers consultations and seminars in grantsmanship in several different settings. One-on-one consultation with faculty regarding grants is available on an appointment basis. Faculty workshops are offered periodically throughout the academic year. Workshops may focus on general grant subjects, internal CCSU grants, or specific grant competitions. On occasion, representatives from funding agencies are invited to campus to discuss funding opportunities with faculty.

In order to submit external grants the Sponsored Programs Office has put together this step by step grant submission process:
