Biotechnology Institute Scholarship

The B.I. Scholars program is a unique initiative to encourage in-depth undergraduate research in biotechnology at CCSU. The B.I. Scholars receive a stipend for two semesters of directed research with a CCSU faculty member from Biomolecular Sciences, Chemistry or Biology (applicable research only). The students dedicate 10-20 hours per week to their research projects. The B.I.-provided student stipend is a critical part of the Scholars program, in that it allows the student to reduce or eliminate their reliance on part-time jobs, which draw them away from campus.
Criteria: Candidates for the B.I. Scholars program must have completed a BMS 390, CHEM 238 or Bio 390 under the supervision of a faculty advisor, involving research in a Biotechnology related area. This independent research project should serve as the foundation for advanced independent research to be conducted as a B.I. Scholar. Students should be good academic standing, and matriculated into a degree program. B.I. Scholars are expected to present their findings at one of the Biotechnology Institute Forums.
