WHAT IS AN RA/PA?

What is an RA (Resident Assistant)?

The RA plays an integral role in the establishment of an environment conducive to maximum academic, personal, and social development, and to maintaining healthy and safe living conditions. The RA seeks to promote a sense of community within the residence hall fostered by individual responsibility, mutual respect, and the pursuit of mutual interests.

The RA is responsible for putting on quality social and educational programming for their floor and the building. The RA also makes door tags and bulletin boards.

The RA participates in a night/weekend duty schedule where he/she conducts rounds of their hall, addresses policy violations, maintenance issues, and any resident concerns

The Resident Assistant position requires a student to:
  • Have completed a minimum of 40 credit hours prior to appointment.
  • Candidates must maintain a 2.3 cumulative GPA, however the candidate must have a 2.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Be in good judicial standing with the Judicial Office.

What is an PA (Program Assistant)?

The Program Assistant (P.A.) is a Resident Assistant with at least one year of experience in the Department of Residence Life, having all the responsibilities of a Resident Assistant.

In addition, they also, advise R.A.'s on floor programming, programming resource for staff, hall council, and residents, advise and coordinate educational programming, co-advise the hall council, maintain monthly calendar of floor, IRC, and hall council programs, and review program paperwork.
