Events...
To expand young minds and to provide
a means for social development, one needs to travel beyond the school
doors. Consequently, the ConnCAP Middle School program chose to do the
following:
CCSU, New
Britain, CT
On Sunday, October 19, 2008, ConnCAP participated in the 2008
Connecticut Best Robotics Competition entitled, "Just Plane Crazy".
Both 8th & 9th grade ConnCAP students found the event to be competitive,
challenging, but extremely fun.
CCSU professor Dr. Ravindra Thamma coordinated the competition and Brian
Cabello (EOP and CCSU alumni) and Yenmhy Largaespada (ConnCAP, EOP and
CCSU alumni) volunteered their time to mentor, inspire and motivate
students.
The days event was hosted by the CCSU School of Engineering & Technology
and sponsored by United Technologies, Lowe's, Robot Magazine, Servo
Magazine, Solid Works and Igus corporations to encourage young
people to "pursue careers in engineering, science, technology, and math
through participation in a sports-like science and engineering based
robotics competition."
