Mandate and Organization

• The role of the HSC is to facilitate and authorize university sponsored research that respects the welfare and autonomy of human participants. 

• The Human Studies Council (HSC) is CCSU's Institutional Review Board (IRB), the body federally mandated to protect human participants in research conducted by CCSU faculty, students and staff.

• The HSC Administrative Team and HSC members serve the campus research community under the direction of Dr. Paulette Lemma, Dean of Graduate Studies/Vice President of Academic Affairs.
