Alumni Are State's Best Teachers & Educational Leaders
|
 |
Continuing a proud tradition, several CCSU alumni were selected as this year's best teachers: Jaime Pitkin '01,'04, a math teacher at East Hartford Middle School, was named the East Hartford Teacher of the Year; Jessica Bruenn '99, a fifth-grade teacher at Strong Elementary School, is the 2011-12 Southington Teacher of the Year; and Timothy Maule '91, a teacher at Hubbard Elementary in Berlin, CT, was named District Teacher of the Year. The CCSU School of Education's motto is "Preparing Leaders for Service in our Communities," and that too is a vital tradition: Dr. G. Duncan Harris '00, dean of student affairs at Manchester Community College, was named Man of the Year by the State of Connecticut African American Affairs Commission. And Judith Palmer '90 (MS) was elected President of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents. |
